Hard to believe that only just over a year ago, having just moved to Ontario from B.C., I was setting up a microphone in my in-law's basement closet, enjoying all the free-time unemployment has to offer. The only intention at the time was to archive the song's I'd written and maybe show them off to some family or friends; having no idea these would become the demos for what would eventually become The Union.
It was Thanksgiving day (Canada's is in October) that I found out my brother Ben had sent those songs over to a friend of his, who was part of an indie lable in Hamilton, Other Songs Music Co. By the end of that day I had met Scott Orr and we decided to record an album together. It's with great pleasure that I present to you a handful of these original acoustic takes, recorded in the heart of my in-law's basement.
